Moving to a new country is an exciting adventure

The excitement of the future and the fear of the unfamiliar can create a rollercoaster of emotions. Away from the familiarity of home, students often struggle to make real connections with others and experience loneliness and stress.

We help international students thrive

In 1979, International Friendships began with a simple conviction: no student should have to navigate life in a new country alone. What started with small acts of hospitality — shared meals, airport rides, conversations over tea — has grown into a movement spanning campuses, cities, and countries.

An answered prayer

IFI has been God’s answered prayer to me. The first semester was extremely challenging due to all the adjustments I had to make. I soon realized building a community in a different culture wasn’t going to be easy. BUT God. IFI to me has been a place where I get seen, can be myself, meet others going through similar experiences, and learn new cultures.

Thank you IFI!

The IFI team was incredibly generous and helpful, always ready to assist and ensure we felt at home. They helped us with our challenges, from rides to go shopping to getting furniture for our home, and also with the English language itself. Thanks to IFI, we made lasting friendships that we will carry with us for a lifetime.

Extremely Grateful!

Thanks to IFI, I found a community that became family. Moving to a new country and starting at a new school can feel overwhelming, but IFI turned that challenge into an adventure. The warmth, support, and genuine connections made me feel like I belonged, and it wasn’t long before the unfamiliar started feeling like home.
